Cassie and Bryan’s Wedding at The American Homestead

Posted in Locations, Weddings on March 7, 2009 by neilbartowphotography

Last October, Cassie and Bryan were married at the American Homestead, near Naches. This was a memorable wedding, both because Cassie and Bryan are a fabulous couple to work with and we enjoy being out at the American Homestead for weddings. The hills and the huge grass field are beautiful and the charming buildings have a lot of space for the family and wedding guests to enjoy.  In this case, the extra indoor space was a plus as the rain in the morning forced the entire ceremony indoors – without a hitch.

This wedding was especially unique due to Cassie’s choice of a gorgeous red dress and the creative use of peacock feathers, hops, and succulant plants in the decor.

Jenny and Christian’s Wedding

Posted in Locations, Weddings on February 8, 2009 by neilbartowphotography

Jenny and Christian married on a cold, icy Saturday a few weeks ago.  After a beautiful ceremony at the Holy Family Catholic Church, friends and family gathered at the Yakima Country Club for the reception.  One can see the subtlely gorgeous dusting of hoar frost that served as a wonderful backdrop for some of the formals. This wedding was particularly special to me as Jenny’s dad is also my eye doctor. Eye doctors are beloved by photographers for obvious reasons and are unceremoniously accorded the distinction of ” Wizard of the First Order”. Christian and Jenny are  a lovely couple, who , along with their families, were a pleasure to work with.  Below are some of the images from their celebration.

We will be located in the SouthWest aisle, on the same side as the entrance, but at the far end; between Ummelina Yakima Spa Retreat and Motives Custom Cosmetics. Look for a lot of black and red.

Come look through the portfolio, get to know who we are, and have some chocolate.  Hope to see you there!

Stephanie and Todd’s Wedding

Posted in Weddings on December 27, 2008 by neilbartowphotography

Shortly before Christmas, we had the pleasure of photographing Stephanie and Todd’s wedding.  We followed Stephanie from her parents home to the church where finishing touches were made on getting dressed for the ceremony.  After the ceremony, they traveled to the Convention Center for their reception.

They were married at the Holy Family Catholic Church.  As part of their wedding, they had a sand ceremony, which is the mixing of colored sand to symbolize their union.  It was a beautiful addition to the wedding and they will always have the bottle of combined sand.

Stephanie had hoped for snow at their wedding, and we got our first snow.  During the wedding.  Todd’s groomsmen shoveled the walk for them.

Stan, from Moonlit Ride Limousine, provided the handsome umbrella for the walk to the dry, warm, Lincoln.

The sign behind them, outside the Convention Center reads, “Congratulations Todd & Stephanie”

Kristen and Kyle’s Engagement Photos

Posted in Community, Engagement Sessions on November 30, 2008 by neilbartowphotography

Last week I got together with Kristen and Kyle to shoot their engagement photos. Kristen and Kyle were the winners of a drawing for an engagement session through Everything but the Dress down on North 2nd Street.  They were delightful to work with. Both are artistic and were open to some different backrounds downtown.  We came up with some colorful images.

We recently visited with Laura at Everything but the Dress and checked out her new, expanded space. What a great place to put a wedding together.  JoAnn wishes there had been a store like that available when we planned our wedding.

Good luck Kristen and Kyle with your wedding planning   -  Neil

“Season for Change” Fashion Show

Posted in Community on September 8, 2008 by neilbartowphotography

It is estimated there are between 400 – 500 homeless youth in Yakima County. Last Friday, Cary Hotzinger coordinated a Fashion Show on Front Street to raise money for two organizations, For a Better Tomorrow and New Horizons, which support services for homeless youth. For a Better Tomorrow is partnered with others in the community to support  Rod’s House, which will be a homeless youth resources center.

I was one of several photographer’s invited by Carly to photograph the fashion show, which highlighted clothing from Garden Dance and Denyse’s Shoe Boutique as well as clothing designed by Carly. Although a little windy, everyone seemed to be having a good time. The historic downtown buildings create a charming backdrop for the models.

Some sample photos are below. The rest can be viewed  HERE. Twenty five percent of any print purchases will be donated to For a Better Tomorrow in support of Rod’s House.

Sarah’s Senior Portraits

Posted in Senior Portraits on September 7, 2008 by neilbartowphotography

Sarah and her mother invited us out to their backyard for Sarah’s Senior photos last week. Their backyard has a knock out view of the hills around Naches. Sarah included her dogs, her sister, and some friends in her photos, although she will have to see the rest of her photos on Pictage to see those.

It is that time of year again, the weather is beginning to be crisp, the birds are gathering to fly South, and Seniors are having their photos taken.  I went out to the Ahtanum Mission for these wonderful photos of Samantha, better known as Sam. Below are several of my favorites.

Kasandra and Erick

Posted in Weddings on August 31, 2008 by neilbartowphotography

Kasandra and Erick were married in her family’s backyard on one of the hottest days of this summer.  It was a labor of love for family and friends to set up and decorate the reception tent and the ceremony area. It all turned out beautifully.  Kassandra and Erick had the biggest smiles for each other all day long, every time they made eye contact.

Here are a few imags from their wedding while I finish editing:
