Kim and Ryan’s Wedding

Posted in Locations, Weddings on November 25, 2007 by neilbartowphotography

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and has travelled safely.  The cold weather has me thinking about summer weddings when it is so much more comfortable outdoors.  I’d like to highlight Kim and Ryan’s wedding from August, when the weather was definately warmer.  They were married at the Cascade Gardens, which is a lovely secluded oasis not too far outside of Yakima. Below are a few favorite photos from their wedding, starting with a “detail shot” of a jacket “off” because of the heat:

I love the drama of this photo in black and white of Kim walking from the house beautifully illuminated by the sun…

…and Kim was glowing!

Because Kim’s flowers are dark colors, they work well for a duo-tone effect.

You can see the real affection in the way they look at each other.

Thanks Kim and Ryan for letting us be part of your wedding day. I hope your holidays are as special.  – Neil

Whitney’s Portraits

Posted in Senior Portraits on November 21, 2007 by neilbartowphotography

About a week ago, I photographed Whitney at the Arboretum.  We wanted to catch the last of the autumn color but, sadly, the day we had chosen turned out to be pretty windy.  She was willing to try and work with the wind, so we went ahead with the session. It turns out the soft light and the wind worked pretty well in the images below.

The last image is desaturated to give it a different look.  I’m glad Whitney was willing to come out in less than perfect weather as I am really pleased with the images. She was fun to work with.  – Neil

Autumn Beauty Continued…

I went back out to St. Joseph’s Mission, this time with Paula and Orlin Knutson.  They wanted a portrait to commemorate their 25th Anniversary.  They are great couple to work with.  I originally met them when photographing their daughter’s wedding two years ago.  Can it be two years already?

Anyway, we had a lot of fun. It was a beautiful day and they really are a handsome couple. One thing I like about this job is getting to meet and work with such nice people.

Chantel and Cassandra’s Senior Photos at St Joseph’s Mission

Posted in Senior Portraits on November 3, 2007 by neilbartowphotography

Last weekend we enjoyed some beautiful sunny days.  I went out to St Joseph’s Mission at Ahtanum with the White’s to photograph Chantel and Cassandra’s Senior photos.  There was an abundance of fall colors for as well as interesting fences and structures that served as background.  The Mission is an historic park preserving an early Catholic Mission and it’sgrounds, serving as a lovely background for these two twin sisters from Naches.

I was hoping to capture the differences in their unique personalities. Several of the images are below:

It was certainly a fun day. Thanks and good luck Cassandra and Chantel with your Senior year!  – Neil
